Fort Ticonderoga/Fort Carillon Ticonderoga, NY

On our trip to Vermont in 2013, we had the opportunity to visit Ft. Ticonderoga.

This fort was a fantastic location to visit. The fort was originally built in the 18th Century by the French and was originally named Fort Carillon.

Much of the fort had been destroyed in the past. So what is there now has been rebuilt or restored.

They have a nice museum on site which includes some items owned by George Washington and his wife, Martha. When we visited, they also had a gallery of paintings and drawings of the site over the years, that shows the fort in its ruined state before restoration.

They had a display room with items related to weaving and cloth-making.

This was one of our favorite sites that we have visited so far. Such a beautiful setting, and they have done a wonderful job of restoring it and making it an educational experience. For more info, visit their website. https://www.fortticonderoga.org/
