This is a unique historic site featuring a plantation house, grounds and a small museum. The house is an ante-bellum style house with buttresses. It was a significant location during the American Civil War.
Instead of a well, the house featured a huge cistern to collect water for use by everyone living on the property.
They also have working sugar rollers and a cane processing area setup.
We had the opportunity to visit the small museum on our visit in 2015, but we didn’t have the chance to take the tour of the house. It was not open for self-tours. You had to go through the museum to schedule your guided tour.
