Old First Church Bennington Centre Cemetery – Grave of Poet Robert L. Frost – Bennington, VT

Bennington Cemetery

This was the beloved area where Robert Frost grew up and called home for much of his life. His grave is in the Bennington Centre Cemetery next to the Old First Church. There are a lot of very old graves to be found in this cemetery.

American Revolutionary War: Battle of Bennington, August 16, 1777 – Memorial Monument – Bennington, VT

Bennington Monument

This site commemorates the Battle of Bennington in 1777. When we visited in 2010, the monument was open to visitors to go to the top.

Vintage Green Mountain Railroad Train Ride – White River Junction, VT to Thetford, VT

White River Junction train ride

It’s not everyday that you get to take an antique train ride. This was a trip that was offered from the train depot at White River Junction to an organic farm in Thetford, VT. This was a fun and relaxing trip. This adventure began at the train depot.

The Old Constitution House Windsor, VT

Old Constitution House

We visited this site in 2013. It was not far from the American Precision Museum and both could easily be seen in the same day. This was originally Elijah West’s Tavern where the Vermont Constitution was signed in 1777.

American Precision Museum Windsor, VT

American Precision Museum

This was a unique museum to visit. We visited in 2013, and they had a machinist on site doing demonstrations of how some of the equipment worked. The original factory that was on this site was belt-driven by water wheel.

Mount Independence Revolutionary War Site – Orwell, VT

Mt Independence

This was a stop on our trip to Vermont in 2013. This site is run by the State of Vermont and is an important Revolutionary War site. It has a museum and several trails through the site.

They had an exhibit center that featured a speaking statue, which is pretty unique.
